Teen Reading Lounge provides teens interactive opportunities

(January 22, 2020)

The Teen Reading Lounge kicked off the new year with its first meeting Tuesday at the Bradford Area Public Library, and the majority of the teens in attendance seemed to have favorable opinions of the book in discussion.

As a new extension of the previous Teen Book Club, meetings will now be able to include humanities-focused projects or speakers. Also, the teens will have the opportunity to take trips, thanks to a two-year grant the library received.

Teen Reading Lounge is an award-winning interactive book club designed exclusively for teens. A growing number of teens in libraries across Pennsylvania have participated in Teen Reading Lounge since its launch in 2010. Teen Reading Lounge is open to all teens in grades 9 through 12.

Teen Reading Lounge is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, Governor. Additional support is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
