Military history workshop

As part of the National Endowment for the Humanities' (NEH)  "Standing Together" initiative to support veterans and the study of war, the Endowment is sponsoring a workshop for military historians on the use of the latest digital research tools. 

The workshop is a cooperative effort of NEH's Office of Digital Humanities, Northeastern University's NULab for Texts, Maps and Networks, and the Society for Military History.  The free workshop will be held at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 10-11, 2014.   Registration is required.

The NEH Workshop on Digital Methods for Military History is designed for historians eager to use digital methods in their work but who have not had training in network analysis and mapping.

Scholars of the history of foreign policy, veterans affairs, general wartime studies, and social and cultural history of the military are among those for whom the workshop is expected to be particularly valuable.

Participating scholars are expected to come with a project idea.  Workshop speakers will  present projects that have successfully integrated digital technologies into their research during morning sessions and, in the afternoon, the basics of the technologies will be taught.  Even sessions will be devoted to applying the newly-taught technologies to the project ideas of the participants.  To learn more and register, go to http://www.neh.gov/veterans/standing-together.
