Marvelwood teacher explores Thomas Jefferson in his home
Valentin Dumistracu, The Marvelwood School’s history department chair, was selected as a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Scholar this year.
He was selected from a national applicant pool to attend one of 32 summer seminars and institutes. The National Endowment for the Humanities is a federal agency that supports these enrichment opportunities at colleges, universities and cultural institutions so teachers can study with experts in humanities disciplines each summer.
Valentin will participate in “Thomas Jefferson: The Public and Private Worlds of Monticello and the University of Virginia.” The two week program is at the University of Virginia and Monticello, where Thomas Jefferson lived, and is directed by Professor Lisa Reilly.
