Hamilton College Assistant Professor of History Celeste Day Moore recently received a summer stipend from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The $6,000 award will support research and writing for a project titled “Soundscapes of Liberation: African-American Music and the Circuits of the 20th-Century Atlantic World.”
Moore said the goal of the project is to publish a book on the transatlantic networks of production, distribution, and performance that led to the rise of African-American music as a globally recognized sign of power and protest after World War II.
