EBHS Social Studies Teacher to Learn about "Teaching the Holocaust" at Bowdoin College

Robert Gangi, an East Brunswick High School Social Studies Teacher, has been selected as a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Scholar from a national applicant pool. Recently, Gangi was honored by the New Jersey Vietnam Veteran Memorial Foundation for his work teaching students about the war and serving as the "unofficial photographer" of the Memorial.

Gangi will attend one of 32 summer seminars and institutes supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Endowment is a federal agency that, each summer, supports these enrichment opportunities at colleges, universities, and cultural institutions so teachers can study with experts in humanities disciplines. He also will participate in a seminar entitled “Teaching the Holocaust through Visual Culture.”

The two-week program will be held at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME and is directed by Natasha Goldman and Page Herrlinger. The approximately 462 NEH Summer Scholars who participate in these programs of study will teach almost 68,000 American students during the 2019-2020 school year.
