National Endowment for the Humanities Named a Best Place to Work in the Federal Government for 2023
NEH ranks as a top workplace among small federal agencies for the third year in a row
For the third year in a row, the National Endowment for the Humanities has been named a best place to work among small federal agencies in the latest Best Places to Work survey released by the nonprofit, nonpartisan Partnership for Public Service and global management consulting firm Boston Consulting Group, in partnership with the Washington Post.
Based on an Office of Personnel Management survey and data collected from more than a million federal employees, the rankings measure employee engagement and satisfaction, as well as metrics including management, performance, and work-life balance.
NEH ranked second as a best place to work among small federal agencies for 2023, based on an overall employee engagement and satisfaction score of 90.5 points. On individual metrics, the agency ranked third among small agencies for effective leadership and in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. NEH also ranked first in employees’ positive assessment of their ability to provide input on agency operations to promote excellence in the humanities and convey the lessons of history to all Americans.
“NEH’s talented employees share a deep commitment to expanding access for all Americans to high quality cultural and educational resources and programs,” said NEH Chair Shelly C. Lowe (Navajo). “Our small agency works to ensure that our nation’s humanities institutions, scholars, and practitioners are able to pursue advanced research, produce informative films, books, exhibitions, and educational materials on history, literature, languages, and ideas, and document and preserve our diverse cultural heritage. This recognition is a testament to the enormous dedication and hard work of NEH staff in support of this mission.”
